Austin, Baby!

You need to sit down. No, really you need to sit down for this one. Okay, ready? Whew, okay, here goes…Clay and I are going out of town for the weekend! There, I said it. I know, right? Totally unbelievable! We like, Never go anywhere or do anything! We’ve been too wrapped up in kiddo-doings that we just overlooked the AWESOME that is getting the hell outta Dallas!
Well, it’s our 12th Wedding Anniversary and we decided to take a little “adult time out” and kick back in Austin. We will be staying at the lovely Omni Hotel in downtown Austin for two glorious nights starting this Friday. Clay has taken a half day off on Friday, so we should arrive in Austin just in time for check-in. Where we will drop our luggage off and maybe, just maybe indulge in a little elevator tag and maybe we might just moon downtown Austin from our room window. Just kidding…we don’t need to drop off our luggage first!
I’m just kidding around. We may not do any of that! I’m looking forward to some peace and quiet. I love staying in hotels! You get there, it’s clean and fresh, you mess something up, you leave and come back and someone has cleaned it up…Fresh towels, bed turned down…And room service…truly a gift from the gods! Does it get any better than picking up a phone and telling someone what you want to eat while sitting in your underwear, THEN, having that requested meal delivered to your room, where you can eat in…you’ve got it…Your Underwear!
Of course we will be leaving Spencer, our sweet, innocent 18.75 year old in charge of the house for the whole weekend…I wonder what he’ll do to occupy his time…maybe a puzzle. Maybe he’ll weed the garden. Or, maybe he’ll dust the baseboards. Ya, right! I’ve just heard so many horror stories about parties being held while parents are out…I’ve seen the movies, heck I’ve even actually been a participant in those parties a time or two back in my day. I think our only saving grace is the fact that Spen IS a good boy and that Uncle Shawn (Garland Police Detective) lives about a mile away and would love nothing better than to bust the party thrown by our angel. Clay has been known to walk in on Shawn’s girls’ shindigs a time or two.
I’m just so excited about spending the weekend with Clay in Austin. I’m going to relish every minute…
